Super Bowl

It seems like we have been gearing up for the Super Bowl for a month now at our house. Craig absolutely LOVES to watch football (or almost any other sport) on tv. I like to sit down and watch one with him. I don't do two or three in a row, but one I can handle. Anyway, we were both a little disappointed because none of "our teams" made it this year, but you still have to watch! We even bought a new tv a week or two ago. Craig ended up working a whole bunch of overtime during his last pay period and that is what he wanted to do with the money. It is a little bigger than I would have chosen, but it is fun to have.

Every year since we have been married we have had someone over to watch with us. One of Craig's favorite foods is bbq beef nachos. So, I made a pot of bbq beef and got everything for nachos. We had Kevin & Chanda, Randy Puttman, and Lauren over to watch the game with us. All of the guys were going for the Cardinals, so all of us girls decided to go for the Steelers to create a little controversy. It was a lot of fun. It was a really exciting game and I ate way too much food!! All in all it was a good day for us.

Road trip!

This past weekend I got the chance to go down to Utah with my sisters, Becca and Cailee. We loaded all of our stuff and the kids up on Thursday morning and headed down to Logan. We took Cailee down to get her senior pictures taken and to go visit the Weber State campus in Ogden. It was a lot of fun to get to spend some "girl time" with them. We stayed with Becca's sister-in-law Celeste. It was so nice! Celeste also took Cailee's pictures, they turned out SOO good. She is just starting out, but does an amazing job. I got to go with them to take the pictures and it was so much fun. Celeste has the pictures posted, check them out! http://amomentwithceleste.blogspot.com
We really had a good trip, even thought I felt a little bit bad about leaving Craig home by himself all weekend. Thanks for letting us invade Celeste, we had a great time!

thoughts....

Wed. night went over to Craig's parents house to celebrate Jacob's birthday. Hailee and I decided to head over a little bit early because Craig was out working on a sled to take on his ice fishing adventures. I was excited to see Grandma Dorothy's car there when we pulled up. Hailee is generally not very fond of "older people," but she has sure taken a liking to G. Dorothy in the past few months. The party was a lot of fun, it is always really nice to visit with everyone. We got home and after I went to bed I was laying there thinking about things and how Hailee likes G. Dorothy. Dave and Suz gave me a journal for Christmas so that I can write down cute little things Hailee does or says or other thoughts. Well I had to get our of bed and write a few things down. As I was laying there I was thinking about how Hailee is when she is around Dorothy. It kind of seems like its just been since Poppa Vic died that she has become more fond of her. One of the first things Hailee did when we got there was to go over and give G. Dorothy a big hug. Then, all through out the night she would take things over to show her to just give her big slobbery kisses, it was really cute.
Now, here is my conclusion... I might be way off, who knows. We generally don't see G. Dorothy all that often; we see her at family partys and stop in for an occasional visit. I just think that little kids are so smart and VERY perceptive. I believe that Hailee must know on some level that Grandma Dorothy really needs those sweet hugs and slobbery kisses. Since Poppa Vic died it has been hard to see how lonely she has been and we have really gotten a glimpse at how much she loved him. They really were a great couple! We all really make an effort to stop in more frequently to visit and remember grandma, but we might not ever realize how much these little children understand. I know that they are wise beyond their years. I feel very blessed to be trusted with this sweet little spirit.

Nothing too exciting

Wow, we really just aren't very exciting people. We made it through the holidays and are working on getting back to normal. I got all of the Christmas decorations taken down and Craig actually got the tree out of the house today. Now all I have to do is clean the stand....yuck!! Our tree was really "sappy" this year, so it ought to be a real treat. Anywho, I took Hailee to see good ole Dr. J today for her check-up. It was her "1 year" check-up even though she is 13 months old now. He is just super busy all of the time, so they were a little slow getting her in this time. That is okay, we will wait for him ;) She is still growing too fast. She weighs 24 pounds and is 30 1/2 inches tall now. I can't believe how big she is! We seem to be slowing down a little bit. For height she is in the 75% and 85% for weight; in the past she has been closer to the 90%, so she might not end up an Amazon woman afterall. She is also getting to the point where she really dislikes Nancy (dr. j's nurse) and Dr. J. It is sad because they are both so good, but someday she will appreciate them, right?! I just really appreciate having such a good pediatrition. He actually makes me feel like I am a decent mother afterall. Well I should get going. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Christmas!

We had a fun Christmas this year. We spent Christmas Eve with the with the Banks family. Dave and Michelle are gracious enough to host it every year. Each family takes a turn being in charge of the program. Dave and Michelle's family was in charge this year. They did such a great job. It really brought the Christmas spirit. We ate and visited, it was just great.
Christmas day was a little bit hard because Craig had to work, but we still had fun. Craig was able to wait until eight o'clock to go in to work and was able to get off a little early. We went down to Dave and Suz's first thing to open presents. Hailee was asleep for the first 45 minutes, but woke up happy so that was great! We all got some great gifts and had a really good time watching everyone else open the gifts they received too. Grandma and Grandpa W. got Hailee a rocking horse that she wasn't too sure about at first, but really enjoyed it later on. We also got her some books and a little ball popper toy. My parents got her a cute little outfit and a fun book that sings. After opening gifts we just hung out and took a little nap then came home and showered. Then we waited for Criag to get home and showered before we went back down to Dave and Suz's for dinner. We love to play games with them. It was a really fun and laid back day.

Birthday Party!

We had a lot of fun with Hailee's birthday. I had bought this little dress about a month ago and figured I would save it for her birthday. She looked SO cute in it, but she wasn't too impressed with how poofy it was (niether was her dad...). I have tried to keep her pretty comfortable so far with the dresses, but I figured since she is walking it wouldn't be as big of a deal. Well, she still didn't like it. Then there is Craig who thinks that the bows for her hair and poofy, girly things are just dumb. I don't really care, I do it anyway :) It's cute, right!! Anyway, she made it through church. Craig has to take her after sacrament meeting because I teach primary. This is SO good for him. I am glad that he has to take responsibility once in a while. She even pooped at church and I am always really glad when he has to change a poopy diaper or two! I love primary, but it is really hard when Craig has to work or teach figuring out what to do with Hailee. Thankfully, Becca and Craig's parents' ward meets right after ours, so there is usually someone who is willing to take her to sacrament meeting with them.

After church I came home and started cooking! We had dinner at like 4:30 with my family and Craig's family down at Big Horn Federal. It is so nice to be able to meet down there since I don't have enough room for everyone at my house! We just had BBQ beef sandwiches, or BBQ beef nachos. Suz brought salad and mom made a pan of potatoes. It was a little stressful getting to that point, but it was really good. I was glad to have that all over with. Lorraine made Hailee her darling little lady bug cake. I loved it, it was so cute. Hailee was trying to go to sleep right before we were ready to do all of the cake stuff. Craig woke her up and she perked up when it was time to eat the cake. She was a little hesitant at first, but dove right in after a few minutes. Cailee and Lauren got her cleaned up after that while I cleaned up the frosting off of the floor before it got smashed in the carpet. She ended up in the sink to get cleaned up. She is such a little fishy! She absolutely loves the water, she doesn't even care if it gets in her face; it really doesn't phase her much, she is always blowing bubbles in the bathtub and loves the shower! Once we got her cleaned up we moved over to the gifts. She wasn't real into opening them, she just wanted to play with the ribbon and bows off of them. I ended up opening them! She has loved to play with them since we brought them home though. Thanks everyone who bought her stuff!

I can't believe it's been a whole year since we brought our little angel home! She is so much fun and teachs me so much everyday. I feel very blessed to be trusted to raise this sweet little girl.
